Forklift Training Courses in Manchester

At TAG Forklift Trucks we can provide a full range of forklift operator training to suit your needs. Whether you’re looking for accreditation on a counterbalance truck, a pallet truck or dedicated reach trucks, our experienced team is here to help. As one of the leading forklift providers in the UK, we’re able to offer forklift courses for a range of different vehicles, including:

  • CAT B1 Counterbalance (Up to 5ton trucks)
  • CAT B2 Counterbalance (5ton – 10ton trucks)
  • CAT D1 Reach Trucks (with mast from 3-8 metres)
  • CAT P1 Pivot Steer (Flexi, Bendi, Aisle-master)
  • CAT 3A & 3B MEWP (RTITB Accredited)
  • CAT A1 Pedestrian Pallet Truck

B1 forklifts typically include counterbalance lift trucks, up to and including 5 tonnes.

B1 forklifts can be found in both warehouse and construction environments, moving freight, construction waste and stock.

Reach trucks are typically used in warehouses, as they can manoeuvre through tight spaces and around corners. They’re also ideal for warehouses due to their ability to lift heavy loads directly upwards, making them perfect for racking and storage systems.

B2 counterbalance forklifts are used when the weight capacity of the load exceeds 5 tonnes, but is less than 10 tonnes.

These trucks are often used on construction sites and in warehouses.

Pivot steer forklifts, such as Aisle Master, Bendi and Flexi’s are best seen as a combination of both counterbalance and reach trucks. They use an articulated system which means that it can be steered 180-degrees, allowing easy access to racking systems and external lifting.

Smarter Forklift Training That Saves You Time

We know that taking staff off-site for operator training can disrupt your operations and cause unnecessary delays. That’s why we offer a more efficient solution.

By completing the eTruck online course before practical training begins, we can reduce the novice forklift training from 5 days to just 3 days (based on a group of 3 learners). For experienced operators, refresher courses can be completed by lunchtime—minimizing downtime even further.

Our blended learning approach allows your team to complete the online portion of the course anytime, anywhere—on their smartphone, at work or at home, and at their own pace. The course is broken into manageable sections, so learners can log in and pick up where they left off.

Storytelling has been proven to boost learning and memory retention—making it a powerful tool in forklift operator training, and our training is designed with that in mind. The result? Better-prepared forklift operators, stronger safety awareness, and more time spent on the machine—not just in a classroom.

Dedicated Forklift Truck Training Centre

The facility includes both indoor warehouse simulations and outdoor training zones, ensuring trainees gain practical experience and confidence to operate safely in any setting.

Our Manchester-based training centre has seen consistent growth since its launch, offering accredited and dependable forklift training across a variety of operational scenarios. Safe and effective forklift operation in diverse environments is critical, and our purpose-built facility enables trainees to gain hands-on experience in both confined warehouse settings and challenging outdoor construction sites. This ensures they are fully equipped to handle manual handling equipment safely and confidently in real-world conditions.

Which Course is Right for You?

  • Novice: This option should be selected for candidates who have NO experience with a forklift truck. This will cover the very basics and will also cover all aspects required.
  • Experienced: This option is ideal for candidates who have driven a forklift for some time but had no official training.
  • Conversion: If you want to operate another category of forklift, this option is best suited. We use the skills and knowledge you have already acquired with your current training, and we build on that with another category forklift.
This course requires an In-date certificate for the forklift you are currently operating.
  • Refresher: Have your most recent certificate renewed for another 3 years with this option. All you need is evidence of previous training, even if it has expired, our 1-day refresher course is perfect for you.
